From our experience, we have realized that Siebel implementations have a high cost of maintenance essentially due to the lack of effective documentation in the project. Absence of a proper methodology of the implementation team is primarily responsible for the lack of effective updated documentation. Usually, project deadlines themselves do not cover documentation tasks leading to unavailability of proper documentation at the end of the project lifecycle. The impact of this is felt at a later stage when the team wants to upgrade the application, migrate to a newer version or make enhancements to the existing functionality of the application.
Based upon the level of documentation deliverables expected, the
ePairs Professional Services (
EPS) team engages key personnel within the client team to siphon off the base materials required for us to prepare the documentation. This process usually takes less than a week with interactions ranging from email to in-person interviews.
Following this phase, the EPS team will transfer execution of the documentation services to the
ePairs Support Team (
EST). The EST is comprised of skilled personnel with technical expertise covering a wide range of Siebel technologies, enabling them to generate technical documentation of the entire application in a well-presented and comprehensible manner. The EST will provide the client with a sample version of the documentation before proceeding with the rest of the document. Upon client approval of the sample version, the EST will proceed with the final version of the documentation. The timelines for documentation services vary from 1 week to 3 weeks depending upon the customization of the Siebel application and the documentation depth expected.
